Well, I am finally banded. I was done on Thursday at 7:30 AM and was up walking by 11:30. I left the hoispital around 4:00 and I am having a good bit of pain at the port site. I know this is to be expected though and I just keeping thinking the worst is behind me and each day I will feel alittle better. No regrets at all !!!!!!! Will keep you posted on how I am doing and thanks for everyones encouragement.

Hopeful60: Congrats--It sounds as if you are feeling the normal postop pain and you have such a great attitude. Keep it up. You are on the way. Please keep us posted. It is so exciting to see the possibilities of future and say good-bye to that old past.

Best wishes and keep that recovery going,

I was banded on Thursday too (about 1:30). I got to stay the night which was good. I am having trouble getting all of the liquids in as I am full and have the gas pains all over the abdomen. How are you doing with that?

I am only drinking what I can as I do not want to get sick . I am drinking Special K Protein Water and am able to drink about 2 bottles a day. I am also eating sugar free orange and cherry popsicles as I figured that was a way to get some fluids in me also. Other than the port pain and some swelling I am feeling A OK. I am only taking Tylenol for pain and my pain meds only at bedtime. With them I can go tobed, sleep on either side and get a good nights rest. I am not hungry at all and I think that is probaly due to the swelling in my stomach area. How about you???

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
