I know 3 people that had surgery by him and they all loved him, but he is very very busy. It can take weeks to get an appt. but from what i herd its well worth the wait.

Have you attened an info session?

Thanks for your reply! I have already met with Dr. Cunneen and have completed all my pre-requsites except for the social worker and dietician which i have scheduled for the 14th. I am really excited but I hate the wait. i did evrything on my part to get all the tests done,so I hope my insurnace is quick and gives me the clearance. Have you already had the surgery?

I was, on 7/31/03. He was good, but like a previous poster said, it took FOREVER to get appointments with him. As far as the aftercare went... it was just "okay". I felt like he really didnt want to listen to my concerns that something was wrong with my port... and kept dismissing me. Turns out something was wrong with my port, they had to replace it. It hadn't been sewn down tightly enough in the first surgery, so it twisted and the tubing broke.

Also, I developed severe heartburn after about 6-8 months, and wanted to get to the bottom of it. He didnt seem to think it was an issue, saying "it would be okay if you had to take Tagamet forever."... That just didnt sit right with me, rather than wanting to get to the heart of the issue, he was okay with me just taking an antacid for the rest of my life.

I moved away in 06 and haven't seen him since 05... but my experience with Cedars Sinai wasn't as glorious as it should be for the high bills I paid. That's just my 2 cents though.

FOR THE RECORD: There were a couple of other doctors in there with him. Dr. Ted Khalili did my port replacement, and his bedside manner was excellent.:) I wish he had been my surgeon the first time around.

I had my lapband surgery by Dr. Cunneen. I got to say that Cedars-Sinai aftercare was horrible. The surgery however went well and I've had no after-effects. I sinced moved out of the area and haven't been back to get a fill, but even without the fill I've lost 121 lbs and I have had no complications. I had my sugery 7/14/08.

Cedars-Sinai was terrible though afterwards and I don't think I'd ever go there. I feel as if I paid WAY too much.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
