Approved! But now...

Recommended Posts

They called me today and told me I am approved! But they said I have to call the hospital and see what my out of pocket cost is and that it has to be paid before my surgery... my insurance is One Net PPO. Does anyone have any idea of the cost?

I called and left a message at the number they gave me but I'm a nervous wreck that it's going to be more than I can come up with before my date - which is the 23rd of this month - I'm between YEA! and OH NO! lol

You have no idea how grateful I am for this site!!!! I just got the EXACT same news only I don't have a PPO. What I DO have is a $4000 out of pocket max which means I have to take my doc $640 next week at Pre-op which is fine, but the hospital wants $3000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will literally have a FIT if I cannot work out a payment arrangement. I'm willing to do anything! You should be able to get a payment arrangement as well, I just have no clue what it will be.

I don't have an answer, just know that you're not alone...

Thanks so much for replying!!! OMG - if they tell me I have to come up with $4000 I'll die! I don't want to tell anyone I've been approved because if I can't afford the co-pay I'll be too embarrassed to tell them I had to cancel it! Let me know what happens with you! I'll be sending good thoughts... that and $4000 would get you a lot, lol. :)

That's the best part... I already told everyone MAY 1ST!!! LOL!!!

I refuse to worry about it and you don't either! What hospital wouldn't want $20,000 over $3000???? I'm going to ask them tomorrow if they'll take Automatic w/drawal... I'll sell them my kidney at this point! I'm too excited! LOL

I'm trusting God that He wouldn't let me get this far and get stuck here...can't take it! Keep your head up.

LOL - good point! And if you sold your kidney you'd already be down at least a pound, lol. I was so upset when I had my hysterectomy and gained weight - I thought for sure my uterus should have been 1lb!!!

OH NO! Well, rest assured that the hospital shouldn't be a problem.

I talked to them today and I only have to put down 25% of my balance to them and they worked out the monthly for a really small amount- although I will pay more than what they require.

So, even if the out of pocket is rough, the hospital will work with you!!! Have a good and relaxing weekend- NO STRESS!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
