Not yet banded! coming soon!

Recommended Posts

I have yet to be banded but I am sick to death of every one telling me how they know this person or that person or there selves that had it done and something terrible happen or or it did not work. I told my husband to not tell me anything else negitive about the lap band that he was told. I am sick of it. I know all the good and bad of this I have studies and read it all. I wish people could just understand that is a tool and if it is not used right and follow what they tell you yes it will not work and something could happen. I can not help that all these other people did not do what they were taught about the lap band. this is not a mircle you still have to do you part. I am sorry this is my first post and I ventted all over the place but I have had it with the bad stuff I want to hear something good. I have not even had the surgery yet and I do not need to hear all the negative point I know what they are. thanks for listening.

I'm sorry about all the negative stories you've heard about the LB. I can tell you that I know a bunch of people who have had it done lately and coincidentally all by the same doctor and their experiences have been nothing but positive! I don't think i've ever once had anybody even say anything negative to me about the LB procedure. GB procedure yes but not LB.

I'm sorry you're going through this. Just tell them that sucks to be that person and change the subject. Good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
