Officially A April Bandster Bunny 1 day Post-op

Recommended Posts

OK, Surgery was Yesterday...

OK night before really nervous very little sleep...BIG MISTAKE... Make sure you get plenty of rest the day before your Bandday... Surgery went well and The doc stated I did Great...Problem was after I got out of Surgery I was VERY VERY tired..Anthesia is slow but not getting sleep the night before I took longer to get awake fully.. Being that I have Sleep Apnea it took awhile beofe they let me go home... So for all you futute Bandsters sleep well the night before... Last night went well slept well. Took only one dose of pain medicine. Today different story been in alot more pain. Keep the Gas-X handy...Not hungry at all 2:00 PM est here and only ate one can of broth. Keep on Sipping the isopure.. I have found that if you will sweeten your Isopure (Stevia is great for this) it makes the drink not to bad... Keep it over ice and cool. Happy to be an April Bandster...I talked it over with my Dr. about Chewing Gum to help with the mental level of the chew factor... He stated that it was a great thing and will not cause air bubbles.. But most Dr tell you not to Chew for the risk of swallowing the Gum (That would be VERY VERY bad he said...All and All getting rest and trying to keep walking...Will keep you posted as progress begins more... Keep the faith Guys Bandday is better that birthdays...

I became a "bandit" on Tuesday. Went to mushies today. sleeping the night through has been difficult. I like to sleep on my side and that can't happen right now.

So, glad all went well for you.

Linda

Congratulations! and good luck! I am a stomach sleeper too and for the first 2 days I had to lay on my side not because of pain but I was so afraid I would move the port or something stupid like that... After a few days when the soreness wore off I went right back to tummy sleeping and had no problems. I still sleep this way and have no problems still...:wink2:

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
