ok.. so i had surgery 2/12, and since then i've lost 38 pounds... at first i was starving!!!! and now there are days where i can eat alot...and some days where i can only have a few bites.. is that normal???????

tomarrow i get my first fill.. i personally think my doctor made me wait a while.. its almost been two months and no fill until tomarrow.

i only threw up once after eating some pasta--and its weird because mac n cheese and mashed potatoes is one of the only things i can tolerate!!! HELP?!?!?!?!?

Any suggestions on what i can eat or how to eat?? i may be eating too fast.. but its hard i used to finish a meal in 5 minutes.. i try atleast to take 10 min for a meal...

Thanks in advance for your help xoxoxo

Honestly, it sounds like you may need to work on your chewing habits a bit more. Most bandsters take at least twenty minutes or longer for a meal. You need to make sure you are taking baby size bites. When I first was banded, I used baby utensils to help me get used to the size of bites I was supposed to take. You also have to make sure you remember to chew, chew, chew! Do not swallow your food until it is chewed to a mush. Next. put your utensils down between bites and wait a moment to make sure you are not satisfied before taking another bite.

The band can be quite fickle and many things will affect your restriction. Anything from stress, weather, time of month, etc. can cause you to have more restriction.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
