lawandad 0 Posted April 9, 2009 Hello I'm a newbie banded 4/4/09. Any idea when I should start excercising? I do a little walking here and there, but not sure when to really start excercising.
Brockbabe82 0 Posted April 9, 2009 my surgeon said walking would not hurt right after surgery but any heavy lifting would have to wait until 6 weeks after surgery. I would say as long as it's low impact and not weights , whenever you are feeling better would probably be fine.

PharmaGirl 0 Posted April 10, 2009 Hi there everyone, Yep, my doctor has given similar instruction to my partner who was banded yesterday. Walking is fine - he suggested walking 5 mins the first day, increasing by 5 minutes per day until you get to 30mins/day and then continuing with that as a minimum (he suggested a target 10,000 steps/day). As per BrockBabe's advice, he also advised no heavy lifting for 6 weeks. In case you might be interested there's a forum for all of us being banded in April HERE and we've added you to the list of April bandsters HERE.
