Well, I don't know how much I weigh--have been camping for three days (as opposed to weighing myself at least 5 times a day when I am home)--so I know what the number is in a general way (I know, I know, I shouldn't weigh myself like that but I can't stop it)......

So we go camping--it's me, hubby and DS age 6. We have a pop up camper, a big honking canoe and all the stuff you have to lug along with you to "camp". We had never been to this park--but it looked pretty so we went.

All weekend we were on the go--Lugged that canoe down to the lake, hopped in, paddled all over the place--all stuff I would NEVER have tried when I was pre-band--and it was soo fun! I can barely lift my arms over my head today, but what the heck, my shirt buttons up the front! ha ha

After we were done canoeing--we lugged that sucker back to the campsite, had lunch and then went on a two mile hike that meandered in and amongst some pretty spectacular waterfalls and scenery. It was up and down a million steps and hills--I would have been sweating and breathing like a maniac before, but it was a breeze for me! (well not a breeze, but very DO-able!). today I am sore, but so happy and proud of myself!

My biggest NSV this week has been only ONE tiny PB--no more of the daily stuff! (that was another thread you might have seen last week).

I couldn't wait to get home and tell you all about this--:)

Sounds like you had a great time! Congratulations on your success! I apologize if I posted this twice, but it did a weird thing when I clicked on post reply....

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
