I think I have food stuck in my tummy

Recommended Posts

:glare: I had my first fill yesterday and told me to go on the "straw diet" for two days. Well, while at work today they didn't have anything to eat that could go through a straw. So what I did was chew banana with a little Water in my mouth to make it more mushy.

I have terrible pain in the middle of my stomach with painful back ache. My stomach is growling and the same time I feel full.

Is there something that I can do at home to get rid of this pain? I saw somewhere to try drinking something warm, but I already tried that and it didn't work.

Please help!!!!

I had a similar situation on Monday where I ate 1 teaspoon of mashed potatoes and didn't like it so I ate Soup (creamy consistancy) Less than half way thru I felt an extreme feeling of fullness and pressure. This is my first week on pureed food so I didn't understand why. I guess the tsp of mashed p. didn't go down and blocked me. It was horrible- I tried stretching, walking & even something warm to drink to no avail. This happened at 1:30pm and didn't go away till 9:00pm when I drank hot tea. I think we just need to let it takes its course in going down. But I understand the feeling your having. It's not pain but extreme disconfort. Try hot tea. (as hot as you can take it)

Let me know if it helps

I am on day 7 post op and have the same weird feeling- Full but back ache- I have only had Soup, ensure and h20. Yesterday I tried yogurt but felt too full too fast- I have also tried walking, burping etc and nothing seems to take away that weird "knot" like feeling- I have tried laying down and stretching too- Glad I'm not alone...:glare:

I was trying to think of a way to describe it, but your description of it is perfect. The only way i can get rid of the pain however is laying down...gas x did nothing for me a week after surgery though....its a very uncomfortable feeling...

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
