Went to individual assessment today at True Results Atlanta. Received word that since I am 223lbs and 5"5 with a BMI of 37.7 I would qualify, but since I have not visited the doctor in over 7 years and have no history of health related issues I probably would not be approved through my insurance coverage. I do have high blood pressure but I am not taking any meds for it since I dont have a primary care physician. All in all I despise going to the doctor. I guess because I dont want to hear what I already know. This really sucks. I cant afford cash pay, but I am desperate!! Should I just give up and eat my way to a 40+ BMI????:glare:

You should just slouch and put a couple rolls of quarters in your pocket :glare: Layer your clothes too.

Atleast I would.

Definitely see what your BMI is at 5'4" and then wear baggy pants and bend your knees. Looks like you would have to weigh 230 at that height...a half gallon of Water weighs 4 pounds so drink that and eat salty the day before. Also lots of people put small handweights in their bra or in a girdle.....good luck!

If you have high blood pressure you should find a primary care doctor and go to him/her even if you do not like going to the doctor. I knew someone who died because they had high blood pressure and did not go to the doctor because the did not have insurance and could not afford it. At least if you are on blood pressure medication you might have a better chance of getting approved. Good luck,

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
