I'm allowed to have yogurt in addition to the liquids. At my checkup today the doc said I could also have eggs and vegetables that have been cooked really, really well. I was just banded on Saturday. This morning I tried to eat some yogurt, but a bite of it got stuck. I guess it was too big of a bite. I'm a little swollen since I just had surgery. Now I know what I want to avoid in the future. It hurt! I slimed and I had to vomit up the little bit of yogurt before I got any relief. Ugh. I am definitely not looking forward to any more episodes like that.

Did you call your doctor about the vomiting? My doctor said to call immediately if I had any vomiting in the first few weeks. I hope it gets better for you soon!!

I'm not sure when your surgery was, but here was my post op diet as prescribed by my Dr.:

Day 1- Clear Liquids

Days 2-14 - Puree diet

Days 15-30 - Slowly add soft foods (i.e. eggs, rice, Pasta, vegis.)

Days 30 and after - regular diet

It sounds as though you may have jumped the gun with regard to they types of foods you're eating at this particular stage. Please consult your Dr. about the vomiting. I didn't PB for about 5 month after my surgery. Good luck to you!

That wasn't vomiting. Just a pain-in-the you know what PB! Happens when you take too big a bite, eat too fast or something gets stuck and can't move. I've PB'd once and it was because I waited way too long to eat and when I did eat, I ate way too fast. Guess I learned my lesson, LOL.

I could have yougurt 2 - 14 days out and I have ate it without any problems and I would say regular size bites. I didn't get any fill in my band upon insertion. You should call your dr. I don't get eggs or veggies until 2 - 4 weeks out.

wHY WOULD YOUR DOCTOR TELL YOU THAT YOU CAN HAVE eggs AND VEGETABLES 5 DAYS OUT OF SURGERY? YOU HAVE TO HEAL AND YOUR BAND HAS TO STAY IN PLACE WITH STITCHES, WHICH VOMITING CAN POP. EVERYON I KNOW WAS ON 1 shake PER DAY PLUS BROTHS, sugar-free POPSICLES, NO solid food UNTIL TWO WEEKS LATER AND THAT WAS JUST MUSHIES, LIKE HUMMUS, pureed FOODS, puddings, chicken salad, EGG salad AND SO ON.

Each day with each new post I am amazed at the difference in opinon from doctor to doctor on what the post-op diet should be- It makes sense (at least to me anyway) to stay on liquids as long as possible for proper healing.

I am on day 7 post op and tried creamy Soups and yogurt which ended up beign too much- This is the most for post op day 3-10.

Post op day 11-14 are mushie foods/pureed foods (ie mashed potatoes, grits, eggs, etc.)

Post op day 14-for 3 weeks- 3 small meals with 2 Protein Shakes a day. Meals are 4-6 oz and mushy with plenty of Protein. At least 3-4 fruits and veggies as well.

But the dietician said nothing is in stone and the days can waiver if needed and my body isnt ready.

Yup, every doctor is a little bit different. I'm going to stick with the liquids. I did try some mushy, mushy food last night and it went down fine and dandy, but I don't want to risk it.

My surgeon is the leading bariatric surgeon in the country (but there aren't that many of them *in* this country), and I trust some of his advice, but some of it goes against everything else I've read. Back to Soups and smoothies I go!

Every doctor is a lot different is what I'm finding, I was on 1 week of liquids (including cream Soup and pudding), then 1 week of mushies (including eggs, yogurt, soft cooked veggies), then 1 week of soft Proteins (tuna, canned chicken), then 1 week of more solid Proteins, then back to a normal diet.

I find it amazing how much this varies from doctor to doctor, I would think it would be pretty standard throughout but that is definitely not the case. I also didn't have to do the 2 week liquid diet before, not even the day before, just couldn't eat after midnight. Very strange! Not that I'm complaining though...

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
