Help, Pain left side under rib??

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have been experiencing pain under the left side bottom rib, maybe lil more toward center. It comes and goes, no ryme or reason, but is sharp. Sometime it even stays around for awhile. I went to liquids yesterday to see if i can get it to help, still waiting. Anyone else experience this pain??

Armywife, I too get that pain. After surgery I had it for weeks. I am in a local support group and am one of the very few with that pain. It is normal. Sometimes when I eat a little to much I get it. If it is not bothersome ride it out and it will go away. If it is constant I would get it checked out. I am sure you have learned everyone experiences are different. I never had the shoulder pain after surgery but all my support group friends did. Looks like you are doing very well and losing. congratulations.

Gas. You had it after surgery most likely and then it stopped. But the darned stuff comes back every once in a while. Same as before... Gas-X, movement/walking and a heating pad will help.

That makes two of us. I have been feeling this pain for 5 days now. Dr seems to think I pulled a muscle. not sure, when I push in gently under my left rib,I can feel the soreness. Dr will put me under the flouro on Monday, unless it gets worse. I have a hight threshhold for pain. So sometimes it is worse, mornings so far, I seem to feel more pain. Good luck, hope we can find a simple solution. I was banded 1/18/08, 15 months out. 8 lbs from goal...:glare:

I have it too but I had it before my surgery so maybe it is something different. Muscle relaxer stops mine and that's the only thing. It's really flared up this week (I'm 2 weeks after surgery). Finally took a muscle relaxer this afternoon and it's gone now. . . but it'll be back tomorrow. . . I've been to the hospital for it and they have no idea what causes it. I think it's either a pulled muscle, or gas. . .

Good luck!! Take it easy! Heating pads work for me. .. but only while I hold still!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
