Does weather affect what will go down?

Recommended Posts

Parrotheadcathy brought this up on another post and I thought it was very interesting and something I have never even thought about!

Can you eat better when its hot out and do things get stuck more when its cold out?

I've been banded since Sept 2007 and have not ever noticed weather affecting getting foods stuck. However, when I am very tense, stressed, dehydrated or swollen (puffy hands, face, feet) my band feels tighter and things seem to get stuck easier. The biggest factor for getting stuck is the size of bites and how much I chew before swollowing. Good luck. Cyndi- in Idaho

I'm with cyndir...not weather, but tension and mostly ME...if I chew very well and take very small bites first, I do fine. Our insides, to a point, maintain our internal temperature. We may FEEL hotter or colder but our core keeps a constant until things break down (ie "heat stroke" or freezing to death) . That's one thing that happens in the lungs...air is heated or cooled.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
