Can Pregnancy do something to the band?

Recommended Posts

SO I have a question, I was banded for the second time on January 16, 2006. I lost weight, I went from 296 to 227 in about 9 months with a 2.6cc fill in a 4cc band. I got pregnant Dec 06, had the all Fluid taken out, gained about 35 pounds (which was better than my first pregnancy, that was 65). Anyway, she is now 20 months old and I CANNOT get past 235! I have had fills, I just had one Monday March 30th. She would not tell me what she gave me, she said she did not want me to "fixate" on the number. When I left the office she said you WILL lose this time. NOT, I felt like I had restriction the first couple of days and now, I have to make myself eat 1 cup of food and make myself STOP. Well last night I was hungry, I ate a WHOLE 6 inch sandwich and about 10 tator tots. I should not be able to eat that much, right? Anyway, all this babbling, my question is could of slipped or something, and not up but maybe down, because it takes alot to make me feel full! Any thoughts would be great.

I wish I had an answer for you, I think of theses things from time to time seeing as my honey and I haven't had kids yet. I know there is a forum on here strictly about the band and pregnancy - they might have an answer....

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
