TwilightLover83 0 Posted April 6, 2009 Hello- So I'm new to the game still. I know it's important to do muscle building or maintaining exercises. So, do i go straight for my elliptical again? or start off slow with the treadmill? Another thing that I'm worried about, when working out, how close to my 2 oz meal? I'm thinking to do a Protein drink right before my workout to help fuel me along. Am I thinking right?
missboo333 0 Posted April 7, 2009 I asked my nutritionist that very same question and she said to pair Protein with a carb about 30 minutes before working out. It has worked for me! Be careful you don't get full on that snack. I did once, and cramped through the whole workout! Good luck!
MacMadame 81 Posted April 7, 2009 Protein before and Protein & carbs after is the standard recommendation. Also, you should do a mix of cardio (elliptical & treadmill) with strength training. My surgeon recommends 2 days of each at a minimum.
greythope 0 Posted April 9, 2009 I find I get a better cardio workout on the elliptical because I can push myself harder than on the treadmill. But I have some back problems, it might be different for you. The exercise bike is meant to be a great workout because it works a big muscle. I vary between the elliptical, the bike, and do strength training.
