Anyone here subscribe to the ObestityHelp Magazine? Do they talk about lap banding and not just RNY?

I've only read it in the waiting room at my dog's ... maybe they should be called "weighting" rooms at bariatric clinics?... Anyway, it was all RNY stuff, nothing useful for me, as far as I could tell.

Oh, there was one article that talked about the psychological impacts of losing weight, but there again, the focus was on the impact of losing really fast.

Margo,

I got a subscription to that magazine also and I find its one of those you can read through really quick. If you want I will send you the mag after I have read it, that way we both dont have to waste the money for it. Let me know, I will be happy to get it over to you one way or another.

I subscribed to it when I was first banded, it is for bypass people, not us. Thank God we have this website for info and support.

Thanks, j.s. I wouldn't mind taking a look at it! Are you planning on going to the next support meeting? If you are (and I hope so!), you could just bring it along then.

OB is worthless as far as I can tell. But my doc send everyone there. I am going to see him tomorrow and am going to tell him about LBT.....

A LBT mag would be great but I already have too many irons in the fire. But i would be willing to help.

OH has a band board, but they really don't advertise it enough. I haven't read the magazine, but if you are ANYWHERE other than the lapband board, EVERYTHING is bypass.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
