Hello June Bandsters!

Recommended Posts

Hi there. I was banded on June 20th and loving it. I haven't had a fill yet, but I consider it often. Was everyone still lossing weight when they got a fill? And if so, why would you get a fill if you are lossing? I feel like I can definetly eat more than we are supposed to, but still lossing slowly. I'm down 33 pounds in 46 days-- should it be more? I just don't know if I should fill or not. The thought of PBing scares the heck out of me. I'm afraid that if I get a fill I will start PBing or not be able to eat certain foods--any thoughts?

The only reason to have a fill is if your not losing 1 to 2 pds per week. Its best to hold off on a fill if your still losing this or more per week. Do your math - your only out 6.5 weeks - so that would put you above average with your weight loss. Your average is 5 pds per week. When you ask if it should be more?? Only you know that answer. Are you following all rules & exercising?? If not maybe it could be more of a loss. But compared to the average that the doctors came up with you are succeeding the average.

I believe that all bandster will at one point after having a fill experience some sort of PB. But you too will get through this & be more deligent because of it. Keep doing what your doing & hold off on that fill until your weight loss slows down to less than 1 pound per week.

Most of all don't ever compare yourself to others with should it be more or not. Everyone is totally different. Age- health & history all play major roles in how fast or slow we each lose.

Congrats on your loss so far - you doing SUPER!

Hi Everyone - Banded June 2nd

My Dr. doesn't do fills until 10wks post op. (and of course he was on vacation in my 10th week. frown.gif ) I'd been at a plateau for 3-4 wks. Had lost 30#. Finally had my 1st Fill 8/19 and I'm down 9# is 2 wks. So- the fill is working. banana.gif

<O:p

I know before my fill- I could eat whatever I wanted, but it was in much more moderation the pre-band. This had me worried, because I didn’t think I should be able to eat everything. I thought maybe my band had slipped. But my fill was under fluoroscopy and no slippage. (YEAH!) Since the fill- I’m finally back to normal food, and I’m staying full longer and back to loosing.

<O:p

Congrats to all you loosers out there. Keep up the great work. <O:p

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
