Hi. My name is Brenda. I had my band put on on Tuesday, the 31st of March. I've had a rough few days but today is a bit better. All I've done is sleep and try to drink. But no pain meds today so I guess that is good. I've never posted on here before and I'm hoping to get in touch with some other newly banded people. I need all the support I can get. I was also wondering if anybody would be willing to tell what they experienced the first week or so. Any hints, suggestions, stories. I guess I just want to know that everything I'm feeling is normal. Thanks. Brenda

Sounds like everything is going well for you, I was banded on March 24th and by day 3 I did not need pain meds. I slept on my back the first 3 nights due to the pressure. After day 7-8 all soreness was gone but if I did too much I was exhausted. Now I am 12 days out and feeling amazing, I am still on the liquid stage for 3 more days but my liquid stage includes egg beaters which I have been having in the mornings.

Good luck with everything!

Hi I'm Sam from Jersey, I had surgery on the 31st. Today is the first day I feel myself. The first three days I had a lot of pain and gas, then just gas. Today, I have minimal pain, and a litttle bit of gas. liquids are going down easier, but I do feel a bit hungry and not just in my head. My energy level is not bad, however I feel alittle weaker than I did yesterday, ( but I am trying to do more like doing laundry and stuff.) I did have a meltdown, when I guess reality set in and I pasted some of my places to eat in my town. Mentally for me this is harder than physical right now, but I know this is the right thing and I still feel okay with my choice to be banded. I think this forum is going to be a great tool for all of us, because we definately need the support! Family and Friends I think, feel this is an easy way to loose, but we have signed up for the bigest challenge of all in my opinion! Good Luck and we are all here to help each other through!

Ladies - I'm also a March 31 bander and I won't mince words...I've been miserable. The first two days were unbearable so I saw my surgeon and lo and behold, the band had 3 ccs of Fluid in it...the dark test Fluid they are supposed to take out before closing you up. Once he took that out (he said it was the earliest adjustment he had ever done--duh) I felt much better for a while. But i'm still having trouble getting my liquids down without lots of gassiness...needless to say, burps are a girls best friend. Protein shakes make me absolutely ill. Any help, ideas or suggestions???

I was banded on 4/2/09 and too am having a problem with gas and nausea. My doctor said it was normal and the bowels and intenstines getting "back into place". I am also having a hard time drinking everything the dietician told me to- I have no desire to drink but have to.... I guess that's a good thing...

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
