Hey all-

Like I've said in a previous post, I am newly banded 3/30/09. I am still on the "full liquid" phase of my diet. I am worried about Easter coming up. I will be on "pureed" by that date. Any tips on what's decent to puree for Easter dinner? Anybody anybody? Thanks!

What is your usual Easter dinner? If it were me I'd probably have something easy like refried Beans or some such and plan to have easter dinner again next year...

it's not like you're on a diet and can never have ham and potatoe salad (or whatever) again, you know.

I will say that I pureed (well I have a small food processor I used loved that little thing!) things like spaghetti and while it looked awful it tasted like it was supposed to. So depending on what you normally have, you can "still" have it.

Egg salad, run the eggs thru a cheese shreddar making them small enought to be mushy. Mash up some pea salad. Refried Beans are great, but look at what will be there and mash it up.. that is what i plan on doing, I was banded March 23, and will be on mushies at that point. just take it slow!

I would agree with RestlessMonkey, get a little food processor. They are great. You can have mashed potatoes, add a little Skim milk to thin them out, green-bean casserole-pick out the green Beans and puree them, I guess it depends on what is going to be served. Its been almost 4 weeks since Ive been banded and I can only eat a half to three quaters cup of food. You won't, or shouldn't, be able to eat much anyway.

But I have to tell you also, i have been on puree for 2 1/2 weeks, and I went to a going away BBQ for my best friend's daughter going into the Navy. I knew there wouldn't be anything I could eat, it was the typical, Hamburgers and hot dogs, chips, coleslaw, etc. I just brought me some sugar free Jello and stood back in amazement on how much food these people loaded up on their plates! I thought to myself-that's what I used to do-:welldoneclap: and i was totally fine with my sugar free jello!

Good Luck!

im on the mushies phase and i eat whatever, as long as i can throw it into thw magic bullet. things look a little gross, but everything tastes good! i also can only eat 1/2 cup of food at a time, so eating probably won't be the focus for this years easter.

good luck!

Thank you all for your responses. I was thinking pureeing a deviled egg & pureeing baked Beans (of course, 1 oz of each only.) I'm only to have 2 oz for a meal. I'm still on liquids, is it pathetic that I'm looking forward to my pureed egg & baked beans? haha.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
