hopeful,

It is understandable to be worried, I was; and I have had a few more surgeries than I wanted. From what I have been told by my doc is that the higher you BMI the more likely you will have a fatty liver. My liver shrink diet was 2 weeks and not really to bad, I have an off center lifestyle that has me in a bar 5 nights a week, menu chocie is limited. Since I could have veggies and lean meat, I would get a garden salad with chicken and be very careful of the amount that I ate. I was happy to "drink" dinner but not every place would let me bring in outside food or drink. My doc said my liver looked good, I had lost about 15lbs. in the two weeks. I did fine in recovery, as soon as my eyes opened they were there with ice chips and talking to me. When got to my room, I was able to get in the chair without aid within 30 minutes, and continued the ice chips until they ran the GI

test which went fine. I had juice when I went back to the room, for dinner I was on full liquids. My doc put in place a medication delivery system called On-Q, this was in until my second day home. I slept on my side the first night, went home and didn't get the script filled for pain. I went out that night and every night without problems. I didn't need any other pain meds. The gas kicked in the second night but walking eased it and it stayed with me about a week and a half. I have had no problems from the surgery and I know it's only been just shy of a month but all has been good. I had an issue with a hardboiled egg, but I learned to slow down when eating real quick. You will do just great and try not to worry to much. I am down from a 22 to a 16 jean :welldoneclap:

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
