Banded 3/30 and all is well!

Recommended Posts

I'm new to the forum and would like to say hello. I am 5 days post-op, and so far so good. I had a few complications during surgery because of scar tissue (adhesions) from previous gall bladder surgery, but it hasn't hindered my recovery at all. My surgeon only had me on liquids 2-3 days post-op and now pureed food for 2-3 weeks. I haven't been sick at all, and am now only mildly sore at my incision sites. I feel a slight "pressure" sensation in my upper abdomen, and I have had some gas, but thankfully no pain from it. I am amazed by my lack of constant hunger and how quickly I get full. I've lost 8 lbs. since my surgery. This is going to be great!

I was banded on 3/31. The liquid diet is difficult, but I can't say I am terribly hungry. I do wonder if I can "force" those Proteins down. (I know its important).

Gotta Force em down. It's so important, that's what is keeping your body going & keeping you energized! Not to mention, healing your wounds! I gotta choke my down too, something that you just gotta do!

I am now on week 2 all liquid, can't wait to go on pureed foods next week, 17lbs so far, I think my body is in shock! Found a Liquid Protein I can live with, but I still am not where I should be with Protein. I'm working on it! Wish I could have some good Soup or at least mashed potatoes on Easter, its going to be bad watching everyone eat. Although, I am still not real hungry. Feeling almost back to normal though, only better!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
