Yes, you are right, I am not in control of that portion of the process. We will get through this, and be the better for it. That should be a saying!!!

Had my pre op meeting today with the surgeon. I must say he is a wonderful man. Great sense of humor. Very attentive. And he makes you feel so at ease!

The pre op prep is not as bad as I thought it was going to be.

The rest of this week I need to just continue staying away from the carbs. Then Sunday and Monday I will do the liquid stuff.

I'll post again as soon after my banding I can!

Thanks for all the great support these last 5 months!

OOPS! Forgot to mention banding will be done on Tuesday, June 9!!

glad to hear you're okay childcare! I haven't had a problem with post-op liquid diet so far either. No pain meds today. Took them yesterday but more so because I just wanted to rest.

So we're moving and a grooving!!

Childcare, actually feeling pretty good. Would love to take a bath but such is life...showers it will be for a while. Just had a half a cup of Tomato Soup. so life is good.:) But still no hunger which is even better.

Hope you're doing fine.

Scheduled for June 12. Nervous about surgery but not about the changes I need too make. Do not have to do the liquid diet preop. Have 90-100 to loose. BMI is 38 with moderate sleep apnea. Insurance does not pre approve, only nervous about getting stuck with a big bill.

I'm so happy for everyone who's had it done already! I can't believe that THE time has actually rolled around! Mine's Monday and I'm not a bit nervous anymore, that might change come the day of, but right now I just want it DONE!!

I am one week away and right now I am feeling good about my decision. Yesterday I went shopping with my grandkids. I had a heck of a time just finding something to wear...and the top button of my pants kept coming undone. Funny how reminders so simple can make such a big impact! I was so upset with myself for being so fat. I wonder how it makes my grandkids feel.

Phenry, I'm sure your grandkids love you no matter what...kids are like that. But just think how much better it will be when you can do even more with them because you won't have the weight slowing you down. I was banded on Monday June 1. So far have lost about 10 lbs with pre-op diet and now but I really am able to get my yogurt and Jello and Soup down pretty good, just slow. And really only eat it because I know I need to. Just take it easy the first few days. You know us "older" patients aren't 21 anymore...lol. My daughter was banded last year in Feb on a Tuesday, flew back from Houston on Friday and worked Saturday. I'm taking off until next Wednesday. No pain, but still sore.

Good luck next week

Thanks Trisha! I have to have an endoscopy tomorrow morning as a final test before surgery next Friday. Sometimes I have trouble swallowing...I had a stricture in my esophagus and had a balloon open it up last fall. The surgeon just wants to take a look down there to make sure this surgery is a good choice for me. I am glad he is doing that first rather than just smoothing it all over and doing the lapband anyway. So....if all goes well I will be joining all fellow bandsters. I have a friend who works for one of the surgeons in Houston. She lives down there and had her band put in about 2 years ago. She became sort of a "poster child" for him and now works for his office. So are you having any pain?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
