Xenical while banded

Recommended Posts

I have stalled with my weight loss, and am wondering if anyone has tried Xenical with their band. And if so, what was the result?

Thanks in advance :)

I took Xenical pre band..it is a messy medication

Your toilet always has an orange greasy fatty ring around it since it blocks the fat out of your dietand comes out the other end in orange oily blobs. I also had to always be close to a bathroom..NOT good for me. I did not like it one bit!

I was on it for some months in 98, then again in 01. I did lose weight, but I regained after I went off it.

I doubt I would regain this time because of the band.

I guess I was lucky. I never had any real problems with it (the oil and mess), it was just the regain after I went off.

Thanks.

Maybe not.

A girlfriend of mine was on Xenical at the same time as me, and we would go out to lunch together, order the same food, and she would have all sorts of problems. Where as I would have none.

I guess everyone is different.

I haven't tried Xenical, but just wanted to say, you've lost 70 lbs since February!! LOL, that's an astronomical amount - well done!

Perhaps your body just needs some time to adjust and is doing that in the form of a plateau? Plateau's suck, that's for sure .. but you'll start losing again in no time at all

You may be building muscle as well, OMG 70 lbs since Feb, that's awesome, this is not bypass, you must be patient, or at least try, LOL. When I stalled the first time, I had gained 12 lbs of muscle, next time it was 3 lbs, so that's a gain of 15 lbs of muscle, added to my 48 lbs of loss. I have to admit, I'd rather see the scales drop, but everyone says the muscle gain is great.

For me top try diet pills, weight watchers, jenny craig while banded defeats the purpose of getting the band. Itired all of those things pre band..had initial resylts but to me the band is a permanent weight loss. I fell like I will never be overweight again. It has changed my life, it has never felt like I was on a diet. That is the greatestthing, losing wieght and still enjoying food.< /p>

You have lost 70 pounds in 5 months...that is awesome!!!

Why would you need to take diet pills to help with this?

Like others have said its probley muscle and your body needs time to adjust.

Taking the pills would defeat the purpose of the band

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
