Today I was able to comfortably fit into a misses 16 pants. Horray for me!!!!

BUT

tonight when I went shopping for more new clothes I realized that I have no idea how to shop for regular size clothes. If that makes any sense?? I wandered around the clothing department looking at clothes thinking, I'll never be able to wear those and when I picked them up and mentally sized them up I didn't believe that I could wear them or that they could possible look good on me. I know it's a mental thing from years and years of never being able to shop for cute clothes because they did not make them in plus sizes. Also, I am finding that most of the clothes are made for younger girls with out sagging underarms and boobs! Where are the clothes with sleeves that cover my saggy arms!! I still want clothes that cover my older body. I was mainly looking for pants for work and while I realize that it is almost summer, how about some long pants instead of capri's and short shorts. I don't mean to grouch because I'm thrilled to be in smaller sizes, but I need adult styles. Anyone else with this problem?? :scared2:

Congratulations on fitting the small size again.

I may not have to worry about that as I have about three closet equivalents worth of old clothes that are too small to fit. I can lose the first 80 pounds without buying much of anything. I'll just be wearing decades old styles.

You might try the up-scale stores with cater to older, wealthier people. I bet they have more appropriate styles.

And, more expensive clothes do last longer. That may not be an advantage as you still have some significant anticipated weight loss to go.

How about LLBean or Land's End?

Good luck on the style search.

Simone, I am having the exact same problem. It was alot easier to be shopping in the women's dept. where there was 1 rack of pants and either you liked them or not. Now we have the rest of the store. I've just started to try to figure this out, but so far I've had my best luck at department stores like Macy's and Kohls. My problem is that I have to try on absolutely everything. I tend to like to stuff that's way too trendy for me, but then I look ridiculous. I do have to go to work. Then there's also another area of the store that has me dressing like my mother.I'm not ready for that just yet. I have a feeling that it will take me another year to figure out my new style. I guess it's all just part of the process.

My dream is to get to goal or close to it (within 25lbs) and contact What Not To Wear and maybe get some good help from them and a shopping spree! LOL . That way It won't be quite so hard for me. I have always been fat and have never really had cute clothes. I am afraid I will dress way to young.:scared2:

GO BACK TO THE STORE!!! Get a clerk to work with you. Take LOTS of clothes to the dressing room and try them on, regardless of whether you THINK they will look good or not. You are shopping with the eyes of the fatter girl you used to be. First things first. Go to a really good lingerie shop and get fitted for a bra. 80% of all women wear a bra that is actually the wrong size! So, get fitted with one that truly fits you and will support your "saggy boobs". THEN, wear the bra to the department store of your choice and try on those clothes. Heck, I'm 58 and I won't be wearing short shorts, but hey, capris? They are flattering, dressy enough to wear out to dinner, casual enough to knock around in and I love them. The point I'm making is don't rule out anything (except maybe the short shorts, LOL) until you've tried a couple of them on. A helpful clerk will keep the clothes coming, bring the same thing in a different size for you -- and you just may find that you look a whole lot better in those styles than you think. Saggy arms? Okay, no sleeveless shirts. Lots of people won't wear sleeveless shirts even if they don't have saggy arms. Spring and summer should offer you cap or flutter sleeves, short sleeves and even 3/4 sleeves (though here in the deep South, I'd die from the heat in 3/4 sleevs in the summer). Where you live, the temps may be more tolerable. The main thing is to not go and thumb through the racks and walk away. Give your new body a chance!!!!!

I also suggest more "upscale" stores like Kohls and Macey's. Coldwater Creek also has awesome clothes for middle aged and older women....and they're really cute. I'm lucky enough to have a Coldwater Creek near me, but they have a great catalog. The clothes are a bit pricey, but excellent quality.

Congratulations on reaching a size 16! I'm at an 18 pants size because of my ginormous hips, but a large or x-large shirt. It's wierd trying on normal sized clothes. I found a blouse I really liked the other night but it wasn't available in an x-large. I looked at the large and it seemed so small, but I figured I would try it anyway for fun. It fit!!!! I was so excited I bought it right away. This is the best adventure I have ever been on in my life!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
