PB and actual vomiting! Advice please!

Recommended Posts

I ate a hard boiled egg this morning too fast or didn't chew well enough and experienced the worst "stuck" episode ever. This time I actually experienced the "sliming" I have read about (if long threads of thick drool is sliming). The pain was intense, I started salivating, I tried the downward dog position, all to no avail. I was at work and had to run to the ladies room and to my surprise I actually vomited (not just productive burping) the egg and the yogurt I had been eating. This was a frightening experience for me and I hope I have learned a lesson. I have had trouble with hard boiled eggs in the past but this was the worst! I think I read somewhere that if you vomit or get food stuck you should revert to soft foods for a while. Anyone know if that's what I should do? I'm starting to get hungry....

It's better not to stress your pouch out the rest of the day. I was advised to stick with soft foods after a bad vomit.

Since my most recent fill, I have had lots of stuck moments, with just two actual vomiting episodes. In all the cases, I knew it was my fault -- I thought I took small bites, but didn't. I thought I had this all down, but being even tighter now I see that I really still have a lot of training to do to eat smaller bites at a much slower pace. I know it's the worst in the morning, so that's when I'll do my Protein shake as my Breakfast. Sometimes though, it's just a surprise when you are careful and get that feeling anyway. Blech!

I hope you feel better! It really is the most horrible feeling, but with a little adjustment to your routine, I'm sure you will get control over it.

Take care!

Eat just egg whites....the yellow, if you'll "play" with it, can be "mushed" around and compacted and THAT IS WHAT STICKS. Egg whites (which are pure protein) won't do that. As for eating post "stuck". if you feel up to something, eat it. If not, have some Soup or oatmeal.< /p>

You should truck over to Wal-Mart and/or GNC and pick up some pineapple/papaya enzyme chews. From what I've read, (and they only work if eating Protein like eggs, meats, etc) most bandsters chew up three of the small tablets and feel relief in about 3 mins. I don't think it will help if it's bad enough to make you vomit, but if you are getting stuck on things like that and sliming, it should help. They're about $4 per 100 tablets and you can keep them in your purse.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
