banderoo 0 Posted April 3, 2009 I had my first fill yesterday. I had liquids all day and until 3 this afternoon. Everytime I try to eat or drink anything today it comes back up. Even when I drink I feel like it sits right there until I burp/puke it out. I keep spitting up tons of mucus. I have a cold and I don't know if the extra mucus is causing every thing to get stuck. I had no restriction obviously before the fill and didn't loose any weight other then the 10lbs I lost on the liquid diet. So I think I need the restriction. Has anyone else had this problem? Does it take a few days for inflamation to go down?
RestlessMonkey 7 Posted April 3, 2009 You are too tight. You need to call your doc ASAP and get unfilled. Seriously! If you can't keep fluids down you're risking dehydration and worse.
banderoo 0 Posted April 3, 2009 Can you be tight after just your first fill? I think you're right though because i can't keep anything down. Should I call tonight or can it wait until morning? I keep spitting up tons of mucus even when I'm not drinking or eating. But I wonder if thats from my cold.
Cleo's Mom 257 Posted April 3, 2009 Do not wait until tomorrow. Call now. This is an emergency. Didn't your doctor have you drink anything after your fill? And yes, you can be too tight after the first fill. Take care and good luck.
melliv 0 Posted April 3, 2009 you are to tight!! It happened to me...after no food or Water for 4 days i got hospitalized for dehydration. i could not even swallow my pit with out throwing it up. i could not breathe, it hurt to lay down. very uncomfortable.i thought it would pass, but it wont! I had to get 3 unfills before i got it right. You dont have to take it all out but you have got to loosen it. call first thing in the morning. you needed some restriction for sure but not that much. banderoo 0 Posted April 3, 2009 I think I'm going to call. I can't even go five minutes without spitting up. It's getting worse tonight then it was all day. Why would that happen? Is it inflamation? Not to be a total downer, but I hate this freaking band!!!
RestlessMonkey 7 Posted April 3, 2009 YES call NOW! Poor thing!
banderoo 0 Posted April 3, 2009 okay, I called and went in and he took out 5ccs. Is 5 cc a lot for a first fill? I already feel sooooo much better, I drank a huge bottle of Water on my way home!!! Thanks for all the advice and help guys. Though now I'm afraid of getting a fill at all. He said I could come in and have 4cc put back in, in a week. I think I am going to start with like 2cc. What do you think?
RestlessMonkey 7 Posted April 3, 2009 WOW no wonder you were miserable! My doc (who is admittedly conservative) started me at 1.5 ccs each time (in my 14 cc band!) WOW! I think, especially with the problems you have had, and your honesty about "hating the band" (who'd blame you?) you are VERY smart to back up and start way more slowly. I think 2 ccs is a great amount. You'll probably not notice it but can take the time to get your enthusiasm back and practice eating small amts(instead of nothing! LOL) and chewing well, etc. And increase it from there. I'm so glad you're doing better now! I'm still flabbergasted at the 5ccs!
alotlessofme 3 Posted April 3, 2009 In my opion that was way to much!! My doc started with 1.75cc and then 2cc's. Do your doc use a xray or flourascope while doing the fills. Mine do and you can actually see on the screen how much Fluid is going through. I'm glad you're feeling better.
Cleo's Mom 257 Posted April 3, 2009 When your doctor took out 5cc's was that all of your fill? In my opinion that is a lot for a first fill and obviously too much for your band and you. It is your body and band so insist on smaller fills. I would not get 4 cc's put in for the next fill. Tell your doctor you want to take it slow. And make sure you drink Water before you leave the office to make sure it goes down. I am glad you are feeling better. Take care.
