Is your BMI less than 25?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone out there lost at least 10 stones and achieved a BMI of less than 25?

Could you please let me know how you did it, which op you had and who did the op.

My old 4ml band fitted by Mr John Rogers in London 4 yrs ago is going to be removed and I am on Mr Sean Woodcock's NHS list to have this done.

I don't know what to do next and would appreciate your advice.

87kg and gaining fast,

Nicky

I have a sleeve, not a band. I don't know the stone equivalent but I lost 90 lb. and my BMI is right on the line between 25.1 and 24.9.

I would ask why you are getting the band removed and why you think another band is the answer? There are times when this makes sense, but a lot of time it's better to get a different surgery the second time.

For example, if your band worked great but recently started leaking, then getting another one makes sense. But if your band slipped, most likely it will slip again because something about slipping seems to make you prone to it.

Hello and thank you for your reply.

I have put my reply as a new question in introductions. That way I hope that I'll get more responses.

Well done with your weight loss. I don't know what a sleeve is but I'm encouraged that it has worked for you.

Nicky

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
