More Dancing in Texas!!

Recommended Posts

I have a surgery date!! I will be banded on 4/17 and I am so excited. I am supposed to start the pre-op diet tomorrow but the doctor said I can start Saturday because my MIL passed away and the funeral is tomorrow. I will watch what I eat and will stay as close to the diet as possible. Just another example of life and making the correct choices.

Just call me a boot scootin' dancing machine or would be if I owned a pair of cowboy boots. I know, hard to imagine a Texan who doesn't own a pair of cowboy boots but I could never get them to go over my calves.:smile2:

Hi there

Welcome and congratulations on your date - your pre-op diet sounds delicious compared to just 3 shakes/day + 2 cups veggies.

In case you're interested, you'll find a whole community of people banded / being banded in April HERE and you'll find your name has been added to the list HERE.

PharmaGirl - To me it sounded like a pretty good one especially after reading what others have been on to get ready. Did you notice that all the veggies are green? Good thing I love veggies of all sorts. Even knowing that I can have more than others (sorry everyone) who have started on this journey yesterday later in the day (my first day on it) I got sick to my stomach because I was used to eating more and my stomach was not happy at all. I always said I didn't snack (famous last words) and didn't realize what I was doing until I stopped myself several times from reaching for a drink of milk or a grab a couple of nuts when my stomach starting growling.

Everyone keeps asking me if I am nervous and I tell them no I am excited and cannot wait!

I am very interested in the April community and thanks for the link and the invite. I will go there and check it out.

Good luck on your banding on April 23rd!!! We can make this journey together.

Congratulations!!!

I am in a neighbor city to you and was banded almost 6 months ago. I've already lost more than you have to lose :w00t: so we're not real close in amounts that we had to shed, but if I can ever help or offer support, let me know. I am a BIG fan of my lap band!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
