Well i got banded yesterday! yay for me but blah on the sick feling i have!

I didnt even see my doctor...i was knocked out before he came in and woke up with 3 or 4 nurses around me in a recovery room...that was kinda scary...but i am doing good. I had an outpatient surgery so I was in recovery for about 4-5 hours and then got released and we had a hotel room since my hospital was almost 3 hours away so i went back to the hotel room to relax more...i'm home now though and doing good.

Got some Jello down today and can start on full liquids on saturday :smile2:

Sooo I am a nurse and I tell all my laproscopic patients to walk walk walk and elevate your feet above your chest to help alleviate the gas pains. Usually works.....my husband just said so when your whining do I remind you of that....I said yep I will try to take your advice. I am so glad you are all doing well. I cant wait.

Walk walk walk, sleep sleep sleep and burp burp burp!

Heat works too - and pain relief. It will pass! I have no gas pains now - and its been 36hrs since I was banded. Sore tummy though, but its the prodding around in there not the gas pains now.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
