How much food can you eat?

Hey...I was wondering if you recommend a certain brand of cottage cheese that tastes good? I am just not a fan of that stuff but maybe I tried the wrong kind. Or maybe you can give me a serving suggestion instead of eating it just plain?

Try adding a bit of sugar free Jello powder and a little fat free whipped topping to your cottage cheese. It becomes a tasty dessert :scared2:

Hi Kat,

Something that helps me get in enough Protein is to include a Protein shake snack during the day (either mid-morning or mid-afternoon). Since I'm lazy, I just buy Myoplex Lite chocolate shakes. I get them at Walmart or BJ's (both at very good prices). They have 20 gm of Protein in 11 oz. I also try to target 60+ gms of protein per day.....I like fish, so eat a fair amount of that. Three oz of salmon has 17 gm of protein. I also like Greek yogurt--a 6 oz container of nonfat Fage (the brand) has 15 gm of protein. Since I don't much like cottage cheese, the Greek yogurt does more for me....I add fresh strawberries and some Splenda in the morning. I also make a tartar sauce out of it to go with the fish. Good luck!!

At my max restriction I can eat about 1/2 cup or the equivalent of a good start veggie pattie with a slice of cheese on it (thats what I just finished)

I cannot feel hunger pangs anymore I just feel weak when I need to eat so I would say its about 4-5 hours between meals.

Has anyone experienced blood when your food comes back up? I have days where I can eat like a normal person, then I have days where nothing stays down. The blood happened today, and it scared me. I have already called the doc.

I was actually just talking to someone on here who was having the same problem. She was intolerant to the band and had it removed. I was having issues where I was throwing up alot but then other days I could eat. I was advised to get an unfill. I had one Friday and it helped sooooo much. What did your doc say? Is he or she gonna take a look? It doesn't sound good.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
