Hello..I am new to the site and just wanted to introduce myself. I am a proud mother of three; twin infants who are seven months and a five year old. I have pretty much strugggled with my weight most of my life. There have been times when I have lost weight only to gain it back; Before I only had to lose 20 to 3o lbs, but since I have had kids I have been in the ranges of needing to lose 80 to 120 pounds. I currently weigh in at 271 pounds and my goal weight is 160. !60 has been my goal for as long as I can remember. I use to be 180 trying to get down to 160. It was hard for me then, so just imagine now. Well, I decided the lap band would be good for me because I am one of those people who never get full and when I lose weight I only gain it back in a matter of months. With the lapband I figured I would finally learn how to eat small portions. I do not have a date just yet. Tomorrow (april 2nd) I attend my first meeting. From what I understand I have a long ways before I have my surgery. nutrition , weight management, psycho analysis, and etc... I really wanted to have my weight down before my 30th b-day in OCT, but it looks like I will still be in the process of getting the surgery. The good news is when i do finally have the surgery it will be my last time slimming down...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
