Another question....

Recommended Posts

I start regular food tomorrow. I know I eat Proteins first, then veggies, then carbs.

Should I feel restriction with no fill?

I really felt restriction the first couple of weeks post op....probably from the swelling. I loved that feeling!!! I couldn't have over ate even had I wanted to.

I feel very little restriction right now but I've been on mushies so maybe that's why??

I feel like I'm totally dieting on my own now. I know I'll find out in the next few days but I wanna know now :huytsao

I think you may just have to wait and see. Start slow, chew well, protiens first. Some feel good restriction and fill up quickly. Others have that "wide open" feeling where, sure, they eat less, but really have no problems eating anything with relative ease. Until they get going on a fill/fills, that is.

Being on mushies will definately contriblute to that "I have no restriction" feeling. Let us know how regular food goes! Slow and careful, promise?

I agree with Kathy. CHew, chew, chew & chew some more. And don't let yourself get too hungry before eating. I found that if I was really hungry when I sat down to eat I tended to take bigger bites, I ate faster & then I was in misery! I almost PB'd myself to death my first day on solids. It scared me to death cause at the time I didn't even know what a PB was. Slow, chew, chew, chew, enjoy your food, & remember to not drink while eating! :)

well, depends on what you mean by significant. Kelly (dylan'smom) has done very well, especially considering her special issues. But Capt'n Jack has done very well indeed.

Jessybear is so right, chew to goo, but never, ever let yourself get really hungry. That's just asking for trouble.

Well first day!!! I had a 120 cal Protein Drink for BF at 7:00am, by 10:30 I was really hungry. I got back home at 11:00 and then I ate an egg w/ melted cheese and it was inside this corn meal shell so I ate the egg and cheese first. The whole thing was about 3/4 c. size and I'm guessing it was close to 350 cals even though it was small sized. (It was a B.A. recipe and it was sooo good.)

I didn't feel like I'd BP even w/ more solid food, nor am I gassy anymore.

I'm still a BP virgin and the goal is to stay that way through the whole process.

I have lost 10 lbs since being banded on the 5th but I can tell that I'm really gonna have to be careful w/ my diet until my first fill. I just feel way too good....

and that's kinda bad : )

One more question if anybody knows, I noticed today that melted cheese stays together it seems no matter how much you chew, have any of you had problems BPing with it?

I think you'd only really have a problem with melted cheese if you swallowed a big hunk of it all at once. That's the only time that I have an issue with it, is if I take too big a bite and swallow too much.

There are a few other things that have that same texture issue. You really are just gonna have to see what you can tolerate. I've learned that I can tolerate one bite of anything, and if I pay attention to that one bite, I can tell what will happen if I keep going. :)

I am still new. What is PBing? Also is it normal to gain a pound or two when you start soft foods, such as eggs, deli meat, chicken, ect.. And when you hit all regular foods is it normal? I feel dumb asking but I feel a little lost.

of course it is normal to gain weight when you go from liquid to food.. your colon now has stuff in it if for no other reason.

Oh, and I want to stress YOU ARE NOT ON A DIET. YOU HAVE MADE A LIFESTYLE CHANGE. YOU ARE NOT ON A DIET.

The first weeks are for healing, not weight loss.

I did this and I was soooo disappointed! I had lost 29 pounds during my 2 weeks on liquids (my Dr. recommends 2 wks liquid, 2 soft, then regular), but as soon as I started my soft foods I started gaining weight back and gained a total of 9 during that phase. I just started regular foods yesterday so I don't know about that part yet. But from what I understand it's normal to gain when you start eating because of the excess amount of Fluid lost during the liquid phase and because of the actual weight of the food in your body - and because of the Constipation and gas issues that may plague you now. At least that's what I've been told.

I just hope it stops soon!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
