I don't think the realize band IS sutured...

but

(and I'm just thinking this through, not a doc, haven't asked...this is opinion, not sound medical advice)

I know that if you eat ahead of your post op diet and make your stomach churn (which it does to digest food), even if the entire band doesnt move, you can pop a stitch or two and set yourself up for problems down the road.

And I think it would slip "upwards" usually, it will take the path of least resistance.

It can also erode INTO your stomach (again...one way you can set yourself up for that is eating too early on your post op diet before you've healed well)...

anyway I think usually it slips UP but am seeing my doc on thurs and will ask him!

Good question!

I had my pre-op appt. today and the doctor did talk about this. He said that if the band slips it will slip down he said that the reason for this is because the muscle in the stomach are strong. So he told me make sure not to excerise my stomach muscle in the first 6 weeks post op. I did not ask about after 6 weeks.

there are a couple of different ways. You band is sutured to one side, but it can slip down if a couple of things happen. Also some of you stomach will move up, making your pouch bigger. I've had 2 slips so far and they're not fun. I go back today to see if my pouch is back to regular size and if my band has slipped back up.

Hi, a band slips because of frequent vomiting. The stomach is sewn together to hold it in place. Usually it takes 2-3 sutures to hold it in place. I had a band slip and had to have emergency surgery to fix it. I couldn't swallow my spit. Most slips are not that severe. The Mo

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
