I can eat a little popcorn but it has to be really buttery. I ate some low fat microwave popcorn once and it caused me trouble days (too dry).

I was scared to at first, as I was told not to. I tried a few little bits of hubbies at the movies with no problem on a few occasions. Then one day ate a small bowl of it watching a movie. I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO DIE. It swelled up in my pouch and was so painful. It was hours before I felt better. So "IF" I ever try it again.... it will only be 3 or 4 pieces.

I can eat the Smartfood white cheddar popcorn without a problem. I haven't tried movie theater popcorn since being banded.

As with any foods that are being introduced to your post-op diet, tread carefully and find out. I can eat it ok but others can't. This will hold true with ALL foods. So you can't really go by what others have done. Just be CAREFUL!

popcorn is the primary reason I go to the movies. I'm hoping I will be one of the people who can eat it.

I can eat a small bag of 100 calorie popcorn. If I am tight that day I can only eat about 1/4 of the bag and if it is a loose day I can eat all if eat. Just depends on the day.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
