Hi All,

I was banded on March 12, 2009.

Physically I am feeling good. I am not hungry and find that I am eating very little...but I am satisfied.

However the past few days I have been an emotional wreck. I am not sad, nor do i regret the band, but I am very weapy. Has anyone else experienced this post op?

Amy

Yes - I have also gone through the 'what have I done' stage, been happy, been sad, but it is better now. I had my surgery on 3/5/09 and I hope it continues to get better as the weight starts to come off! Hang in there! Nothing like good results to help the mood/emotions!

Very normal. I can't count how many times I picked up the phone to schedule surgery to have the band removed. I did not know what I wanted.

Yes, I went through the what have I done stage. I thought it would last forever. It won't last forever. Now, I am glad I got it. You just have to go through the stages. It's perfectly normal.

I had this too and found out that there were two primary causes.

1) The relationship with food has changed. If you used it to sooth yourself in the past or if it was just something you looked forward to throughout the day . . . you have to adjust to do something different. It is hard in the first couple of weeks.

2) Hormones are stored in fat and are released when you go through periods of rapid weightloss. This puts many of us on an emotional roller-coaster and even affects are monthly cycles in strange ways. Hormone fluctuations are one of the most common culprits of mood swings in the early months after banding which is also a time of rapid weightloss.

It gets better. You will be feeling normal in no time :0)

Wow, I had no idea hormones were stored in fat and realeased during rapid weight loss! My re-banding surgery was 3/17 and my TOM was so messed up after my surgery. The first week I cried off and on for no apparent reason and I couldn't understand because I was so happy that I got to keep my band. Thanks for shedding some light on this subject!

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
