And don't forget your $$$$ to pay for your prescriptions coming home. I was out patient so I only took my key and debit card. Also I didn't have my eye glass case with me so my friend had to put them in her purse unprotected. You might want to pack that if you wear glasses.

I'm outpatient so don't need an overnight bag. But I'm getting things ready around the house. My friend in the UK sent me a hot Water bottle that's hidden inside a super soft penguin. It's so cute! I plan on using that and the funny thing is she'll be here the day after my surgery so she can help :scared2:

I have liquids and soups/broth/shakes. Cleaning my house this week. Need to get GasX and things like that still though. 6 days!

Hi everyone,

I found a suggested packing list in the book "WLS for Dummies"... and then sort of made my own from that:

1. A pillow from home for the hospital and for using on your ride home from the hospital.

2. Your Journal, so you can record your experience and look back on what you went through and how far you've come.

3. Comfy loose-fitting clothes for the trip home.

4. Lip Balm

5. Camera: If you want a photo record (not sure if I am doing this or not):scared2:

6. Toiletry Items: Tootbrush, toothpaste, moisturizer, brush, etc.

7. Robe for walking halls

8. Insurance Card

9.Slippers with non-skid soles

10. Any meds that you take regularly, but ask dr. before taking.

Besides a baby spoon, I also have a small fork, Today I bought 2 timers, so I can remind myself to take 20 min to eat, and not to drink 30 min before meals and 1 hr after. Got Protein Powder and a hand mixer, made sure my blender works. I also found at the Dollar Tree these measurement drinking glasses. My booklet also suggests a shot glass so you can get use to how much 1 oz of fluids feels like in your mouth.Counting the time til 4/24.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
