tish76 0 Posted March 29, 2009 My doctor does not require us to do a preop diet. When I ask they said no, there facility does not require that. I've been reading all the posting that say it is better to have your liver shrink b4 surgery. Well my surgery is on friday April 3. Do u think from today til friday is enough time to reduce the size of my liver some? And if so what suggestions do u have as far as meals or Meal Replacement. Thanks for ur help
cejr40 1 Posted March 29, 2009 Yes it should shrink some. My Doctor told me to not eat any bread or sugars or fried food eat all the protien I wanted just make sure it was grilled, baked, or broiled. Maybe that will hel you out. during my two weeks of doing this I lost about 20 pounds and he said that everything looked good. Hope you the best of luck. Cause I know after you heal you will feel 100 percent better. I do.
RestlessMonkey 7 Posted March 29, 2009 I think you should probably not worry about it and just follow your doc's advice, even though I'm someone who didn't get the band at first because of my liver size. Unless your surgeon saw an indication that you have an excessively large liver (and blood work and ultrasound should indicate this) then you are fine! Just be sure to brace for all liquids AFTER the surgery; that was harder! Good luck!
nomasfatbastard 0 Posted March 29, 2009 My surgery date is the first week of April. I lost 16 lbs. in 7 days on the opti-crap. I only cheated with 1 slice of pizza the very first night. I am starting to question my need for the lapband , and stick to the optifast- hurts less and no slipping:cool:
