OK, so I have been banded just over a year now, and while I lost 50 lbs right away, I really have not lost anything after that.

After 5 fills I do have restriction, but here's my question. When I first start eating I am restricted and must eat slowly and chew, chew, chew or I slime. after the first couple bites, the restriction loosens up and I can usually eat a normal sized meal (which admitedly is about 1/3 of what I used to be able to eat).

I think maybe I should stop eating before the restriction loosens, but if so I would be eating a couple bites every hour or so (hard to be able to do at work, etc).

Anyone else have this problem or notice this? What are y'all doing?

I fix the amount of food I should eat, about a cup, and eat that slowly. I am full. I may could eat more, but it would only be because I wanted it, not because I wasn't full. Try doing that. Fix your plate and eat just what you are supposed to have. See how long you stay satisfied.

I have been struggling with this exact same issue. After years and years of overeating, I don't think I really know what "full" is. I am psychologically wanting to eat more even if I am physically not hungry and that is the hardest thing to get past. I like crzytchr's idea of Portion Control. I have also started to use a small plate instead of a dinner plate when I eat and that seems to help. I have to remind myself to eat slowly and then I feel satisfied sooner.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
