Where did my fill saline go????

Recommended Posts

Before I was pregnant my 4cc band was filled to capacity. I got pregnant - did not have an un-fill and did fine. I had the baby and still had restiction - lost my baby weight (25lbs) and then all of a sudden - POOF - my restriction was gone. I can eat like I did pre-band. I quickly put on 30 lbs.

I had a fill last Tuesday and he put in 1.5cc - I still have no restriction (a tiny, tiny bit but not like pre-baby). When I asked what happened to my saline that was in there - my doctor just said he did not know!

This is totally crazy - where did it go? I want to feel restricition like I did before I had the baby and get these 30 lbs off.

I go back in a month and am asking for another fill.

Anyone else experience this??

I was told after awhile some can evaperate. I was also told that if we loose about 20 pounds some of that is probably around our stomach and that is why you need more fills. Hope this helps and all Drs are differant but this is what mine said. Good luck

Something similar happened to me recently. I have lost 112 lbs. still need to lose 75. I went for a fill last Wed. I had some restriction before the fill but weight loss had slowed and I was getting hungry between meals. So I went for the fill. After the fill I had no restriction. Going back this Wed. to find out what's going on. It scares me. I have no idea why this happened.

Hi, I just wanted to check and see how things went with your fluoro fill? I am having the same problem and I was reading through your posts and curious how it worked out. I had my daughter 20 months ago and cannot get down past where I was when I got pregnant with her. I had 2.6 cc in 4cc band and was losing great, when I got pregnant took out the Fluid because I could not even drink Water. Now I have been getting fill, had on on the 30th of March, restrcited for a few days on now nothing. I had a 6 inch sandwich last night with no problem. I put up a post wondering if it could have slipped downward or something. I called my doctor, so I am hoping to go in and see what the problem is. She told me this last time that she gave me a generous amount and that I would definately being losing weight, not happening!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
