I had surgery on a Thursday, and was back at work the following Wednesday. I probably could have gone back on Monday, but really needed the break.

I had surgery on Thursday and was back to work on Monday. I did not work the whole day, left around lunchtime, but was back to my usual work day on Tuesday.

I will be having my surgery on a Thursday and I am a medical secretary. I was hoping to be back on Saturday. Think that is too soon??

I had my surgery on 3/11. I had a hiatal hernia also, but the Dr released me after 2 weeks with restrictions, but my job consists of lifting and repetitious movement, and I couldn't go back, so he put me out for another 2 weeks. I guess it depends on what you do for work.

I would not have been ready on Saturday, but then I had more pain than a lot of the posters on the site have described and was still on narcotic pain relievers until Sunday evening. If you're one of those lucky ones you could be back on Saturday with no problem. Hope you're one!

I had my surgery on Wednesday, went back to work Monday. I only worked a half day Monday but Tuesday was back to complete 8 hour shift. Im an accounts payable clerk and sit most of the day so it wasnt bad except my belly rubbing the desk. Otherwise it wasn't bad. Good luck in your journey!

Wow people go back quick. I was off of work for a month. I also work at an office. I was sore for while plus had a lot of gas; I was glad to have the time to recover.

I had the surgery on a Friday and went back to work the following Thursday. It was too soon and it was a miserable day. I was exhausted by the simplest activity and I'm a teacher so I need all the energy possible.

If I had it to do over again I would have taken the rest of the week off and gone back on Monday. The surgery really knocked me out for longer than I expected. I thought I would bounce back much quicker than I did. Take the extra time if at all possible!

Thanks, It will be Easter weekend and I hate to stick someone else seeing that it is my weekend and holiday to work but I am afraid of driving and being in pain. How about driving? Are you allowed right away?

I was banded on a Thursday and went back to work on the following Monday. My job is not very physical. You can't drive if you're on a narcotic for pain. I only had pain from trapped gas in my shoulders and I found that 800mg of motrin gave me a lot of relief. Good luck!

I was told I could drive as soon as I was off the hard stuff and using Tylenol only.

I had surgery on Friday 1/26 and went back to work on Wednesday. I could have gone back to work on Monday, but already had coverage for Monday and Tuesday. I am a dental hygienist and sit most of the time. Good Luck

I had surgery on 3/23 (Monday) and planned on going back Sunday.

I had a LOT of side effects from the anesthesia which have knocked me on my butt. I was not expecting it at all. Soreness-wise, I'm fine. But I dry heave a lot from the gas, get pretty nauseous, etc.

I called my boss and am now going back on Thursday, so that will have been 11 days since surgery that I've been off. I hate that I've needed this much time but there's no wayyy I'd make it into work today like I had originally planned.

I would take off a few extra days if I were you. Let them know that you might be up to working earlier than you stated but personally I'd rather have a few days extra than not enough.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
