I had surgery on 3-10-09 and went back to a desk job on Thursday (3-12-09). I have had no problems and I feel great, but just remember every one is different and you must do what is right from you. You will know when you get up what kind of day you are going to have.

Thanks, It will be Easter weekend and I hate to stick someone else seeing that it is my weekend and holiday to work but I am afraid of driving and being in pain. How about driving? Are you allowed right away?

You sound like me where you worry about everyone else but yourself

Why don't you ask someone to cover you this one for something personal if you don't want them to know and tell them you'll do there next holiday weekend?

Take time for you! Good Luck

I was banded on Thursday and had planned to go to work on Tuesday. I too am a teacher but figured I could just sit at my desk and bark orders. However, my doctor required ! three weeks off. I made it to Thursday, so I was off a week. I felt great but I was hungry all the time. I figured if I was working I could control what I ate, or rather drank much better. It has been almost 6 weeks now and I feel wonderful. I have lost 25 pounds and go for my first fill tomorrow.

I took off work for 1 week. I think I would have been fine after 4 - 5 days though.

My original "pass" from work was 3-4 weeks. My surgery was Monday March 23rd; today I feel absolutely fabulous! In fact, it's a little scary how good I feel.

I see the doc on Monday 30th and could probably go back to work on Tuesday but I'm not. I figure I just paid the equivalent of a really nice used car for this surgery to help me kickstart my life so I'm just going to treat this as a vacation.

I'm a purchasing agent; sit about 80% of the time. There are two flights of stairs in our building I'd have to hit at least 4-6 times a day. That might be a little much so just going to not push it.

I have a desk and meeting type job. Had surgery on a Tuesday, took two hours worth of meetings the following Monday, did maybe 2-3 hours of work at home at the computer the rest of the week. Went back to work the second Monday (13 days) after surgery. Definitely could have went back a few days earlier, but I was enjoying netflix and playstation way too much and doing some stuff from home kept me in good stead at work.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
