iwannabhalfofme 0 Posted March 28, 2009 hi, i am new to the forum and have started on the the road to be half of me. i have done the sleep study (i have to go in to discuss the outcome on the 31st), the awful blood gas test and more. i will be scheduling my second appointment with the doctor as soon as i have the sleep study outcome. this is the second time i am doing this; the timing was off when i tried to do this two years ago. ever since i heard about this procedure, i have had high hopes to be less than i am now. i hope to be giving all of you wonderful news that i am losing like you are; i will talk to you again later. aloha til the next time i am here. MacMadame 81 Posted March 29, 2009 I haven't heard of the blood gas test. What is it?
iwannabhalfofme 0 Posted March 30, 2009 it is really called arterial blood gas test (spelling is probably wrong), instead of the vein usually used for regular blood tests, they go thru your wrist down to the artery there to withdraw the blood. it hurts a lot . at least 10 times the regular blood test. i was almost in tears :sad:when he finally withdrew the needle, whew!!!!! you didn't have to do this? i wonder if it matters on our ages? the older we are the more tests are done???? ugh!!!! MacMadame 81 Posted March 30, 2009 I'm 51 so I don't think it's age. It was probably something in your medical history or else your doc is just a sadist.
KelleyMarie 0 Posted March 30, 2009 Welcome also to you. I just was banded last week, and I thought I had a lot of pre-op. stuff to do. I dont' think anything that I had to do was nearly as bad as that blood gas test sounds. Good luck to you!
VaDarlene 0 Posted March 30, 2009 Waiting to set surgery date. Did not have to do blood gas test or sleep study. I'm 62 and am happy to see others in my age group. I hope my weight lost will be better [and faster] with the band.
