Newcomer banded 10/23/08

Recommended Posts

Hello! I was banded 10/23/08. I have lost 55lbs and loving it!! I know I have a ways to go, but I am very happy so far. I never really feel full, but I always measure my food and eat only 1 cup of food for Breakfast and lunch. For supper I measure 1 1/2 cups food, but do not force myself to eat all of it. I am still drinking one protien shake a day. I am so happy with the energy I have again - oh how I missed that. I don't have a specific weight loss goal, but several small ones. My first was to get under 300lbs - done. Next was to get into a pair of pants I bought 5 years ago and never wore - done and they are getting loose. Next one is to get into the jeans I wore to my 10 reunion - wish me luck.

I have the best doctor ever - Dr. Sufficool in Rapid City, SD. He is so supportive and really talks to you and listens. He has the best staff - Terry and Debbie - My favorite ladies!!

I hope the best for everyone out there - good luck and better health.

Welcome to LapBandTalk!

I suspect you'll start feeling full once you have a few fills.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
