Bakersfield??

Recommended Posts

Hey Dani - I'm from Bakersfield...banded on March 31. I'm still having all the first week issues, bu each day gets better..Where dd you have your surgery and which surgeon? What has your experience been like? I'd love to get more Bakersfield folks on here so we can chat and eventually meet...the hospital support groups just don't happen frequently enough to meet my needs!

Hey I;m from Bakersfield too. I was banded on april 15. Everything has been going great, but I would like a couple more fills before getting to the point of eating and living normally with just a few changes thrown in. So how has everyone been doing? what kids of stuff have you been doing around bako?

Hey ladies, I too live in Bakersfield...Are there any support groups exclusively for lap band patients that you know of. Just after I was banded (in 2006) I went to a couple of support groups but everyone had bypass...I was the only lap band there.

Would really help if I could get into a support group…I am really struggling…

Hi Everyone!

I am moving back to CA in a few months but I'm worried about finding a doctor for fills and check ups. Any recommendations? I'm a self pay so cost is a factor but I'm not willing to compromise my safety either. Thanks for your help!

I'm in Bakersfield, and was just banded on 1/4/10. It'd be neat to meet up with some of you to chat about life after the band! Feel free to private message me!

I was recently banded (10-19-2010) and just learning to use this site. I've attended the once monthly support group at Mercy Southwest. Have you found any others?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
