Aurelia 2 Posted March 28, 2009 Hey ladies! I've been taking Lybrel since 2007 and it's been amazing. I haven't had a period since november 2007. I had my surgery on 3/18 and sure enough couple days later Aunt Flo shows up. I can't begin to explain how hellish it is to have a period when you're newly banded. It's been 5 days and the period shows no signs of letting up. Has anyone had issues with birth control since getting banded.
MacMadame 81 Posted March 28, 2009 The surgery can mess with your hormones. Some people get a period right after, some stop having them for a while, etc. My first one after surgery was 1 week late.
Carrie_C 9 Posted March 29, 2009 I had surgery in May and I just started having trouble with my period. I am on loestrin. I have been on it for over a year and I have never had a problem until recently. Last month I had my period for about 3 weeks and this month I have had it for about 2 weeks. I went to my GYN and she didn't find anything wrong. She said it is most likely from losing so much weight. She said she could change me to a different pill, but I would probably have the same problems. She said most women's cycles straighten out the closer you get to goal and the more stable your weight gets.
Aurelia 2 Posted March 29, 2009 Are you serious? This does not bode well with me. I have horrible PMS and I turn into such a witch. I hope this is just a fluke and my pill starts working the proper way.
Carrie_C 9 Posted March 29, 2009 I know, it is awful. Maybe you should see you GYN just to make sure everything is ok.
Blaze21 5 Posted March 30, 2009 I got my period 2 days after surgery. I didn't start my ortho evra until sept of 08 and have had a regular period since then
xavier 153 Posted April 6, 2009 I am a Lybrel-lover too! The person who said hormones is exactly right but there's something else...heparin! A little blood thinner to keep you from getting a blood clot makes all your blood thinner so a regular scheduled period can seem very heavy and an unexpected one can be unleashed!! Not a big deal but inconvenient!!! Cali
