Congrats!!! I have my date as well! April 17th. My last appt was March 23 and they said they will submit my paper to my insurance and last week they called and said every thing is a go and my Doc has a cancelation April 17th did I want it, I said YESSSSS!!! It's all I can think about, talk about, dream about...I do believe my family is tired of me, but I got more for them. I'm shouting from a mountain top. FINALLY, YEAH!!!!

I have a surgery date of May 7th. I am waiting for approval from the insurance company. My doctor puts everyone on a 6 week medifast liquid diet. UGH it's very hard. I just started it on Thursday. Does anyone else have to do it that long? I think they said 6 weeks is the minimum time they do. I'm a bit worried about 500 calories a day for 6 weeks but they have a VERY good reputation so they must know. It's hard though. I don't get why you cannot have any solid food at all. Like some celery ? A cucumber? LOL Medisfast doesn't taste that good either. The dutch chocolate is ok and so is the swiss mocha, but the other flavors are all horrible. YUCK

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
