Female Question...

Recommended Posts

I was given Heparin (blood thinner) prior to surgery 2 1/2 weeks ago in order to prevent blood clots.

Shortly after surgery I began to spot and now it's been 2 1/2 weeks later and I am STILL on my period.

Did anyone else have this problem and if so how long did it last??

Thanks!

It happened to me also. I never even thought about it being the Heparin shots. I got one before surgery and 2 after surgery. I started spotting a little after surgery and It lasted forever (or felt like it) hummmm something to think about?

I had period problems too. Only mine stopped and then started and then stopped and then started and so on and so forth. For 6 weeks I was having a period every other week. They each lasted about four days and then I would stop for four and then start again.

I've heard several women say that it messed them up pretty bad for a couple of months.

Sorry! periods are the worst!

I got my period several days early and it was heavier than usual. I ended up with blood clots anyway and I am on medication for that, the surgeon told me that my periods would be heavier while I was talking it. Hope that helps.

I Would Check With Your Docter Is It Heavy. This Not Uncommon With Heparin Better To Spot That Have Blood Clots. My Daughter Has Been Fight Blood Clot And Heparin For A Year Now And Is Finally Off Heparin. She Always Had Heavy Long Period. But What She Was Told If It Continue She Needed To Followup.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
