nigh 0 Posted March 26, 2009 Ok, so I finally scheduled my initial consultation. I've been wanting to get banded for years but kept putting it off. Now that I have my initial appointment, I don't want to wait! My insurance requires a 6 month supervised diet in order to quality for coverage. I don't get it - if I was successful at dieting I wouldn't need the band. Anyway, was wondering if there were any specific questions that I should ask the doctor or my insurance co. I already was advised to ask if fills were covered by insurance - never would have thought to ask that!
debbie_7155 0 Posted March 26, 2009 what about if you get a leakage with the band, who foots the bill if you need a new one? or how long do they guarantee it for afterwards?

RestlessMonkey 7 Posted March 26, 2009 You'd be surprised at how many people start that 6-month diet and decide to NOT get the band. It saves the ins. company money! No idea on the questions; good luck though!
skywalk64 0 Posted March 26, 2009 I have my first consultation on the 9th of April. One question I have is about the port, or really the actual tube. I'd like to know if they ever break, or get tangled up or kinked. How would you know if it pulled apart? At the seminar, the doctor told us that the maker of the band guarantees it for the life of the patient. If it breaks, or leaks, they will replace it but, who pays for the surgery? I'm concerned about things that could happen after the surgery, and if my insurance will pay if, God forbid, I would have to have any kind of surgery to fix, replace, or repair the band. I want to ask questions about all these issues.
