I can't tell you much. I got banded the day before you. Until today, I felt horrrrible. Today I feel MUCH better. Basically all I did for the first few days was sleep, walk, and deal with gas pain.

I wasn't really able to drink much Protein shake until today, and even now, I'm having a hard time. I'm doing my best to get the Water in as well.

sleep has definitely been a big part of making me feel better I think. I have been taking pain meds, especially at night. They make me tired. I have been feeling better every time I wake up though, so that's good.

Just rest and drink what you can. Keep walking too! It's been hard for me since it's been cold and rainy but I have done as much as possible. We'll be feeling better soon!

dont worry about not being hungry at this stage, try with a little Protein when you can, as for the gas, you are doing the right thing by walking, sometimes when i bent over i would let out big burps (the gas), some people take pain meds, i was lucky i dint have to, jut keep moving about as much as you can, it does get better, it took me about 3 weeks after surgery to feel hungry, all people are differnt

I found that Gas-X strips dissolved in the mouth were very helpful with the gas the first few days. Keep walking, too.

Gas-X and a heating pad!!! Gas-X comes in strips that dissolve in your mouth (cinnamon or mint flavor). Walking helps but a heating pad can help too! Sometimes, moving your arms above your head for a minute or two, or just moving your body some will move the gas, too! I mostly felt it in my shoulders and into my neck. Gas-X helped a lot and the heating pad did make a difference.

Time Movement and lots of GasX is the best thing.

I had most of my "gas" pockets gone and not much trouble till day 8 of all things! Had some collect under my ribs on my left side right under one of the GALS and there was nothing I could do for it that helped other than NOT MOVING any at all.

It took from Saturday till Tuesday for it to finally go away.

I too was banded on March 23, and luckily was in the hospital over night and was on lots of oxygen. I am sure that helped, but strech out as much a you can. Lay down or prop you self up and strech out as long as you can by taking deep breaths. Hopefully it will get better for you, also if you have not put a lot of stuff on your tummy, Protein Shakes and heavier fluids your tummy is still making gas so there for if you put something on your tummy it may help too.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
