New Band New Beginings

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am now a whole 4 days post op. I made a major discission to have a lapbanding surgery done about 1 month ago. I am looking forward to my weight decreassing for a change instead of the usual up hill climb, or as most of us know losse a few Kgs and add a few and add a few more for interest. So far I am very happy with my health. I have been doing a little walking, feeling very tired and all the usual post op symtoms have been there to keep me on my toes, but then you can expect that with any surgery. I can now Burpppppppp, much to my disgust, I told my sons I can burp better then they can, I really do hope that this subsides. Not feeling hungry yet, am on the liquid diet, only another 10 days to go before I can start eating purred food. I am hoping that my weight loss journey will be smooth, but no doubt it will be like all other roads have a few bumps. Looking foward to reading how fellow lapbanders are coping, their tips and exercise plans.

Bye for now

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
